I’m excited to say that I will be directly involved with the 2014 Fox River Ad Club on the board of directors. I used to drop into functions with this organization years ago, but I was never really involved in a way that added value for me or for them. That’s all going to change…
Below are the three main reasons that served as the impetus to get me involved:
- You are never too old to learn
- You are never too old to meet new people
- You need to get out of your comfort zone from time to time
I try to practice and hone my design skills every day that I can – I actually find myself doing a lot of self initiated projects, to keep my creativity sharp and to try and solve design problems. However, you need to meet other creatives in other disciplines to gain perspective and appreciation. I don’t want to do all my creativity in my own vacuum so I plan on asking for critiques on these self-initiated projects.
I also like how things work behind the scenes. Being on the board of directors will allow me to offer my own input on all things creative to include creative direction, event planning and event budgeting. I have been on a few event planning committees at my day job and have found that most people have no idea how much planning and work goes on to make event the smallest event possible.
I’m eager to help out with this organization, and hopefully I can offer some creativity and value.
