Well, I decided to do something that I honestly didn’t think I ever do again – I decided to seek out a band to join. It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 (TEN!) years since I was last in a band but the facts don’t lie – I last played a gig in 2006.
The decision didn’t come easily at all – I had been thinking about doing it for a long time – probably the better part of a year. For every “pro” there seemed to be 2 “cons” so I basically kept talking myself out of it. The motivation for me finding a band today is so different versus when I was in bands before that I may as well have been in a different universe. 10 years ago it was beer drinking and trying to pick up women…now it’s finding like minded individuals who simply want to play music and blow off steam.
The most appealing thing about being in a band (to me) is the diversity of people you can get collect that all come together for a common goal. You can have white collar, blue collar, young, old, male, female or whatever all get together to create something – that is really cool when you think about it.
