Catalyst in Green Bay

Have you ever had tempered expectations for an event that get blown out of the water when you attend the actual event?  Yeah, it doesn’t happen that often, and that’s ok because it makes you appreciate things that much more.

I just attended an art show in Green Bay called Catalyst – it was nothing short of spectacular, eye-opening, exciting, you name it – I don’t really have enough superlatives for this event.  It was sensory overload and it was oh so lovely.  The 6th floor of an old building at the Watermark in downtown Green Bay was transformed into something that reminded me of Andy Warhol’s “Factory” where every square foot of space was teeming with art, music, food, dancing and interactive digital art.

The man behind this event is Matt Bero – you should write that name down because he’s got big plans and he’s making things happen.  He’s on a mission to bring public art to the community and he’s already begun making great strides.  They often say you can judge a community by it’s art scene – if that’s the case then Green Bay & the Fox Valley are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

I can’t wait to see what’s next – the best part is that I know it will be great no matter what it is.
